Richard N. Nelson, MD, FACEP is Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs of the department of emergency medicine at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Nelson is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his emergency medicine residency at Summa Akron City Hospital. He has served as President of the Ohio Chapter American College of Emergency Physicians as well as President of the Columbus Medical Association. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Emergency Medicine where he was recently elected Secretary-Treasurer. He edits the Qualifying Examination and chairs the Initial Certification Task Force and co-chairs the Test Development Committee. His academic and research interests include environmental emergencies, disaster preparedness, hyperbaric medicine, testing and simulation technology, and medical-legal and legislative issues in emergency medicine.
