Dr. Shapiro earned his medical degree from the State University of New York. He completed his residency at Temple University Hospital and his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University in 1998, Dr. Shapiro held an Assistant Professor of Medicine position at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Shapiro’s research interests focus on developing novel therapies for the treatment of breast cancer. He has several active protocols to advance the treatment of breast cancer through innovative drug therapies. Dr. Shapiro also has an active clinical research program which focuses on Treatment-related toxicities of cancer therapy. Dr. Shapiro’s clinical practice is dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer. In his administrative capacity, he serves as the director of the breast cancer program for the Division of Hematology and Oncology. Dr. Shapiro is a member of the breast cancer team which includes Dr. Kari Kendra, Dr. Richard Love, Dr. Ewa Mrozek, and Dr. Chris Rhoades.
