Robert L. Haynie, M.D. is the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He Received his PhD in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in 1972. After teaching for two years, he returned to Cleveland, where he completed medical school at Case and an internship and residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program, as well as director of the Medicine Clerkship Program from 1985 until 1989. He then became director of Mt. Sinai’s Hypertension Control Center, which focused on clinical trials of newer pharmacological agents in the treatment of hypertension. From 1990 to 1995, Dr. Haynie was the director of the Transitional Year Program at Mt. Sinai. In 1994, he became medical director of the Center of Urban Health, and from 1999 until the closing of Mt. Sinai in February 2000, held the position of chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Haynie has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and was selected to be included in Best Doctors in America 2001-2002 and 2003-2004. He is currently a member a number of professional organizations and has published a number of articles, primarily in the field of hypertension.
