Jane Case-Smith is a Professor in the Division of Occupational Therapy of The Ohio State University. She has expertise in occupational therapy with young children in both medical and educational settings. She researches interventions for hand skill development, family adaptation to children with disabilities, and efficacy of practice. She edited the textbook, Occupational Therapy for Children, which is now in its fifth edition. Her chapter on evidence based practice with children with autism in the 2004 edition of Autism: A Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Approach discusses the efficacy of sensori-motor interventions for children in the autism spectrum. In addition to over 50 publications, Dr. Case-Smith has lectured internationally on assessment, hand skill interventions, evidenced-based practice, and fine motor outcomes in preschool children.
