Ms. Amy Sturm sees clinical patients with genetic predispositions to both cancer and non-cancer conditions. Her research interests include actively participating in the Primary Care Research Institute Genetics Team, which is a group including multiple primary care researchers, an anthropologist, sociologist, and research and statistics methodologist. This group’s research goals include the integration of genetics and genomics into primary care in order to reach the ultimate goal of individualized medicine. Ms. Sturm also serves as a member of the Coronary Artery Disease Focus Group, which is part of the OSU Program in Pharmacogenomics. This group invites several investigators from different scientific disciplines to join forces to explore the application of pharmacogenetics-pharmacogenomics to coronary artery disease and its therapies. The focus group is supported by common resources such as the Pharmacogenomics Core Laboratory. Ms. Sturm also coordinates the Adult Medical Genetics Clinic initiative within the Division of Human Genetics, as well as the non-cancer DNA banking protocol.
