Dr. Bekaii-Saab’s research is focused on drug development and experimental therapeutics with a special focus on pharmacogenetics. He specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies (including cancers of the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, biliary system as well small and large intestines) in his clinical practice. Dr. Bekaii-Saab holds a joint appointment in the departments of Medicine (Division of Hematology and Oncology) and Pharmacology, which supports his focus in developing clinical research studies.

Dr. Bekaii-Saab is the principal investigator on numerous clinical studies at The Ohio State University, including studies in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Bekaii-Saab also chairs two committees at The Ohio State University including the Gastrointestinal Oncology Disease Specific committee with the responsibility of developing research studies as related to those cancers, and the Hematology-Oncology formulary subcommittee. Dr. Bekaii-Saab is also the chair of the cancer pharmacogenetics focus group.
