Dr van Putten is Chairman of Primary Care at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Director of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at the A. G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. He has been full-time faculty in the College of Dentistry since 1990. He completed his D.D.S. degree in 1981 at Loma Linda University College of Dentistry. In 1983 he entered the Graduate Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed a Masters of Science in Prosthodontics at in 1985. He also received a Certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the M.D. Anderson Tumor and Cancer Center in 1986.
