Dr.Thikkurissy is Assistant Professor and Director of the Pre-doctoral Pediatric Dentistry program at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr.Thikkurissy received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1998. His research during dental school “Effect of interleukin-2 and selenium on the growth of squamous cell carcinoma cells” has been published in Otolaryngology Head Neck Surg. During his final year of dental school, he was a recipient of the Health Professionals Scholarship from the United States Air Force. |
Upon graduation from dental school, Dr.Thikkurissy entered the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. Upon completion of this program in 1999 he received certification in intravenous conscious sedation and nitrous oxide use. After serving the US Air Force at F.E.Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dr.Thikkurissy was accepted to the Ohio State University College of Dentistry/Columbus Children’s Hospital residency in Pediatric Dentistry. During his senior year, he was appointed as a Chief Resident. His graduating Masters thesis was entitled “Methotrexate/Saliva Concentrations in the Pediatric Oncology Patient as an Indicator of Potential Occupational Risk to the Dental Team” and has been published in the Journal of Disability and Oral Health.
Upon graduation in 2003, Dr.Thikkurissy was assigned to Ramstein Air Base in Germany to serve as Chief, Pediatric Dentistry Element, where he also served on the medical staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. Dr.Thikkurissy currently serves on the medical staff at Columbus Children’s Hospital and is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr.Thikkurissy’s research interests include: the oral-systemic health connection in children, dental trauma in the primary dentition, and oral health disparities.
