Dr. Hurd is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology with subspecialty certification in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. For almost two decades, he has been an active clinician and researcher focusing on reproductive endocrinology and infertility. A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Hurd performed his OB/GYN residency at University of Cincinnati and completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco. After Fellowship, Dr. Hurd started his academic career as the Director of the IVF program at the University of Michigan Medical School. He then directed the IVF program and Reproductive Endocrinology Division at Indiana University School of Medicine. Most recently, he was the Chief of OB/GYN and the Assistant Dean for Military Affairs at Write State University School of Medicine in Dayton Ohio. After finishing a 31 year career with the US Air Force Reserve, Dr. Hurd came to UH MacDonald Women’s Hospital to direct the fertility program. He has authored over 100 articles and chapters and co-edited a textbook with Dr. Tommaso Falcone (Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cleveland Clinic) entitled “Textbook of Clinical Reproductive Medicine and Surgery” which was published last year by Elsevier. Dr. Hurd currently is studying several causes of infertility, including recurrent pregnancy loss, age-related decreases in ovarian response, and factors that increase success of in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles.
