OSU Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the Ohio State University Medical Center was established in 1914 and has a long and respected tradition of excellence in clinical care, research, and education. The department is composed of eight surgical specialty divisions:

The Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, a multidisciplinary organization within the department, is dedicated to developing and implementing laparoscopic surgical technologies and procedures. Other centers are the Burn Center, the Center for Bariatric Surgery, and the Center for Wound Healing.

The Department of Surgery's research efforts are focused on key areas of interest that promise to yield significant results in the understanding of disease and the improvement and delivery of high-quality, improved patient care. Major areas of research include:
