Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction is caused when an erection is not firm enough to have intercourse. Some may be unable to have an erection at all or it may be lost during intercourse.

To get and maintain an erection, the penis fills with blood.

If the penis doesn’t get enough blood:

  • It can’t fill up completely
  • Or stay fully erect as long

Damage is Permanent

High Blood pressure can cause the arteries in the penis to become narrow resulting in erectile dysfunction.

Damage will usually slowly get worse unless the high blood pressure is controlled

Erectile dysfunction in a younger person (under 40) who has high blood pressure might be a red flag for early heart disease. Ask your doctor.
