Arthritis and lower back pain

10/15/2000

Question:

I have been advised that I have residuals of herniated nuceus pulposus with degenerative changes of the lumbar spine and arthritis of the sacroiliac joints. I also have two spurs on my spine in the lower back. Does this condition cause pain in the legs and numb feeling and buring sensation in my toes and the ball of my feet. Also does this cause neck pain, skin problems, memory loss or hight blood pressure?

Answer:

The condition that you describe could cause "pain in the legs and numb feeling and buring sensation in my toes and the ball of my feet" by putting pressure on the nerves that exit your spinal canal and travel to your legs. However, these x-ray findings would not produce "neck pain, skin problems, memory loss or high blood pressure"?
