Vaginal odor

07/10/2006

Question:

After eating fish, I seem to have fishy vaginal odor for a day or two - is this normal? It is not a yeast or bladder infection, as this has been happening for years.... Thank you!

Answer:

Most "fishy" vaginal odors are due to an imbalance of bacteria that occurs because of changes in the acidity or balance in the vagina. To my knowledge there is no relationship of the consumption of fish and an odor.
