i have been told by my doctor that i have anorexia nervosa im 167cm and weigh 7st 8lbs.my doctor mentioned hospital. can my doctor make me go into hospital even if i dont want to.
If a doctor recommends hospitalization, then the body may meet criteria that are so severe that 24-hour monitoring and structure is needed. This will help a person stabilize medically or stabilize mentally in learning how to eat and tolerate food in order to restore weight.
If a person is so unstable or in crisis and refuses to help him/herself, two doctors can review the symptoms and have the option to "pink slip" a patient. This will require that the person be admitted into the hospital in order to save the person's life. However, this is rare.
