Numbness in lower lip and chin

08/30/2007

Question:

After wisdom teeth extraction, I had numbness and pain in the lower right portion of my lip and chin. My oral surgeon had me see a specialist in San Francisco. He recommended that I have the nerve cut and said it had to be done before the fourth month. This would eliminate the pain but cause permanent numbness. I am three weeks away. Is that my only option? It just seems so permanent. Is there any other hope for me?

Answer:

I would recommend that you visit the nerve surgeon to see what he has to say.  He may be able to provide you with more treatment options to treat this condition.
