Nodule in breast

10/02/2007

Question:

I have been told I have a nodule in my right breast. I have also been told it appears irregular in shape and is radiating. Is it likely to be cancerous?

Answer:

From your question, I am assuming that this nodule was detected on a mammogram. Unfortunately with the limited information one cannot predict the chances that this nodule is malignant or not. You will definitely need to undergo further testing in the form of further imaging (repeat mammogram with special views and ultrasound) and depending on those results biopsy of this lesion may also be necessary.
