Definition of bibasilar atelectasis10/15/2007 |
What is the medical definition of bibasilar atelectasis in layman`s terms. Describe the symptoms.
It means that the lung is not fully expanded with air in the bottom part of the chest. There are many causes of bibasilar atelectasis. Some people have no symptoms and others can have shortness of breath. However, symptoms are usually due to the underlying condition that causes the atelectasis. We usually view atelectasis as a sign of another, larger lung problem.
