Amputation |
Where to go for help?02/18/2008 04:10PM |
I will be having my left leg removed from above the knee in a few months. My question is there anywhere someone can go to to get help with getting a hadicap van for people who can not afford one on their own.
If your right leg is intact and you are otherwise mobile, you typically wouldn't need a van following an above-knee amputation. Since your left leg is to be amputated, there wouldn't be a need for any vehicle modifications (as would often be necessary following a right leg amputation). Once you undergo amputation surgery, be sure to discuss this with your physician, and possibly also, a social worker at the hospital.
