Braces

Discoloration

04/21/2008 01:27AM

Question:

since beginning treatment with braces, my daughters teeth have taken on a gray color on and between her teeth. She has cleaning and check ups every 6 months with her regular dentist and has never had discoloration or any cavities with her teeth. Could this be a reaction of some type from the brace material?

Answer:

Braces are usually made from metal and teeth are translucent. The gray color you see is the reflection of the braces through the teeth. It will go away when the braces are removed.
