Clogged ear

04/23/2008 04:47PM

Question:

What can be done for a clogged ear and slight pain after an airplane ride? I have taken an antihistamine and put a mixtue of hydrogen peroxide and alcohol in my ear but it is still stopped up most of the time?

Answer:

Frequently, those symptoms can be due to eustachian tube dysfunction that doesn't allow the pressure to equalize in your ears.

Occasionally, decongestants can help. However, having your ear examined by your physician will allow the doctor to rule out infections, fluid, other inner ear problems, etc.
