Magnesium and 5-HTP04/29/2008 04:11PM |
I have Celiac Disease and intestinal swelling. I take Hyoscyamine ( 0.125mg ) 3 - 3 times daily. I am on a strict gluten free diet. I heard that Magnesium and 5-HTP is good for intestinal swelling. Do you recommend them? Thank you.
Thank you for visiting NetWellness. On this site, NetWellness experts try to answer general questions about health. Only a health professional performing a thorough clinical exam is able to make recommendations about supplement dosages. Regarding the magnesium, once your diet is clear from gluten, check with your doctor to see if you could start by taking 1/2 of a 250 mg magnesium oxide tablet at bedtime for one week. If you have no problems, then see about adding the same dose after dinner.
5HTP is not effective for this condition.
