Gall bladder removed

04/30/2008 08:22AM

Question:

My sweet neighbor had her gall bladder removed 3 years ago. She is 86 yrs old, and is having irregular bowel movements, or to say soft diarreha. She is perfect weight and great health otherwise. Any suggestions for her?

Answer:

Sometimes patients can develop irregular bowel movements after gallbladder surgery, however, this is usually transient. If this problem is persistent, she should be evaluated by a GI doctor.
