Ear fungus?

05/11/2008 07:24PM

Question:

I was told by my doctor, over two years ago, that I have an ear fungus. I must have drainage at night because I have flakes in my ears in the a.m. I don`t have any problems such as itching, ear ache or tingling. I was given triamcinolone ointment to use in my ears. How long will I have this problem?? Help... Thank you.

Answer:

You can have fungus in your ear canal without it actually causing you an infection.

I would recheck your ears (see an otolaryngologist- ear specialist).

Get a baseline hearing test.

Steroid medication is helpful for itching but not for fungus.
