Insulin level05/13/2008 08:16PM |
What is a person`s insulin level supposed to be? My son`s level was 76.3.
I would need to know more information in order to tell you how to interpret that. Insulin levels are lowest when people are fasting (haven't eaten overnight for at least 8-10 hours) and they rise in response to meals. They are higher in people with insulin resistance because the body is making more insulin to overcome that resistance; insulin resistance is more commonly found in people that are overweight, than in people who are not. When normal people develop a low blood sugar, the insulin level should fall below the normal fasting levels. The insulin level is usually interpreted in relation to a simultaneous blood sugar (glucose) level.
