Question:

How much damage does high eye pressure do? My has been as high as 48, Dr.Kauffman went in my eyeball and syringed a tube of fluid off my right eye. I have also had a cornea transplant about 8 yrs. ago. He sail the thickness of my cornea is only .4--something now. It is very thin. He sail I`ll have to have another cornea transplant soon. My pressure just started going up about 3 months ago. It has always stayed at 10-12. So, I don`t know what is worst, the glaucoma or the cornea. I am taking 2 different types of pills, plus 4 different types of drops. 3 are for pressure and one is dexsamethasone that I have used ever since I have had the cornea transplant.

Answer:

Thank you for visiting NetWellness. Unfortunately, high eye pressure that is untreated can damage the optic nerve in the back part of the eye and lead to progressive loss of peripheral vision and possible blindness. Taking the eyedrops as prescribed by your eye doctor is extremely important in keeping your eye pressure low and preserving ocular health and good vision. Also, frequent monitoring by your eye doctor will also enable you to preserve your corneal health and receive another corneal transplant when indicated.
