Dark line staining along the gum

05/19/2008 11:18AM

Question:

Since the beginning of this year, my teeth developed dark line staining along the gum line and between my teeth. I have been to two dentists, who cleaned the stains, but could not tell me why they occurred. Each time the stains reappeared after only less than a month. I have another appointment in a couple of weeks. Do you think it could be from the liquid iron supplement I take (I have been taking it since sometime last year)? I do not drink coffee, wine or smoke.

Answer:

It absolutely can be from the liquid iron you take! Usually surface stains are from what we ingest.
