Urinary Tract Cancers |
Family history/ kidney cancer06/02/2008 11:32AM |
My sister aged 7 died 1961 of kidney cancer. Doctors believe she was born with it. However my 20yr daughter has had a lot of blood in her urine. She has been to the doctor and prescribed strong antibiotics (government permission). She is going for an ultra sound in 2 days. My concern is of family history. Her symptoms weight loss tiredness back pain blood in urine and pain when passing urine.
Your concern of a possible cancer is warranted. She should get a CT of her abdomen/pelvis and then, if that is normal, a cystoscopy where they look into the bladder with a scope. If the look into the bladder is normal then she needs to seen by a nephrologists (kidney doctor) for possible kidney disease.
