Pain Management

Regular intervals of pain

06/23/2008 07:23PM

Question:

My husband is having regular intervals of sharp pain in his left knee. He said it started suddenly when he was sitting at his desk, and he has no idea what caused it. The area is not tender to the touch and the pain is comparable to a root canal. It occurs about every 15 seconds and lasts for 5 seconds. Medication and rest have not alleviated the pain either. Between bursts of pain he can walk on it just fine. Any ideas what this could be?

Answer:

I am not sure if this is coming from his knee. Another possible explanation that is the pain is coming from his back.

I suggest you talk to his primary care physician about this.
