Minor Pain Left and Right Flank07/02/2008 04:52AM |
I have had minor pain/discomfort in the left and right flank areas. It seems to come and go but is present most of the time. This has been recurring for over 6 months. I have also experienced constapation on and off as well. I had a colonscopy 2.5 years ago and 5 small hyperplastic poloyps were removed. I have a family history of colon cancer. What type of doctor should evaluate the situation? Does it sound like a serious condition?
Pain is unlikely from the colon. You may want to see your primary care phyiscian as the first step. Hyperplastic polyps are not precancerous but if you have a first degree relative with colon cancer, you should have another colonoscopy within 5 years.
