Hemochromatosis

Hemochromatosis and hepatitis shots

08/07/2008 03:52PM

Question:

I have hemochromatosis and read recently that those with this disease should consider having hepatitis shots. Do you recommend this? Thanks.

Answer:

The reason for getting Hepatitis B vaccination is that hemochromatosis increases the risk of liver damage which can be further affected by hepatitis. Thus, it would be a good idea to get a Hepatitis B vaccination.
