Smoking and blood clots08/12/2008 |
Hi there. I am 20 years old and two years ago I was diagnosed with factor five, some weird blood clotting disorder. I did have a blood clot in my leg but it is now long gone. I’m not too familiar with it but I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.Anyhow I do currently smoke cigarettes and I was wondering if smoking would increase my chances or getting another blood clot?
That is a very good question. Smoking very much does increase your risk for getting additional blood clots in the future. To further decrease your risk of blood clots, you should consider stopping smoking.
