Eye muscles

Question:

My 29 year old son had 2 eye muscle surgeries as a child- his eye "floats"up all of the time- and at this time cannot see out of it- only shadows. He is very "embarrassed by this problem-he and I are wondering if surgery on his eye muscle could be done so it would not float- he said at this point would not even care if it did not move "at all"-- just would like it "straight" Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer:

Thank you for visiting NetWellness. Due to your son's age and history of not being able to see well out of his eye, it appears as if eye muscle surgery would be a consideration to align the eyes in a "straight" position, but would probably not be able to provide any improvement in vision. I recommend scheduling a consultation visit with a neuro-ophthalmologist who has had extensive training and experience with eye muscle surgeries. He or she would be better able to determine the possibility of eye muscle surgery and potential outcomes for your son. Best regards.
