Question:

I am 50 and I had a complete hystorectomy 5 yrs ago for heavy periods. I take no hormones,I am slowly gaining weight, and sex is not comfortable . Is there something that I need vitimans or herbs that will help.

Answer:

The symptoms you are experiencing are a common occurrence with aging.  Most women find they must eat less and exercise more to stay the same weight.  Use of a lubricant with intercourse is helpful after menopause.  Many women use a vaginal moisturizer like Replens or Silk-E once or twice a week.  It is also important to have intercourse on a regular basis after menopause to "stay in shape".  If these measures are not sufficient to restore comfortable intercourse, talk with your clinician about the option of low dose vaginal estrogen.
