Roof of mouth question

10/04/2008 07:34PM

Question:

I have a bubble like bump on the curved area on the roof of my mouth. It`s slightyly purple, doesn`t hurt or anything but i got it around the same time i got a bad sinus/ear infection but the bump hasn`t got away. I was hoping someone could tell me what it is?

Answer:

A bump on the roof of the mouth could be one of a number of things. The most common is a bony protuberance called a tori. Often people have these for years before they realize that they have a bump on the roof of their mouths. It is unlikely that the bump is related to the sinus or ear infection. The only way to know for sure what you have is to visit your dentist and have it evaluated. It is most likely a benign lesion but should be properly diagnosed to rule out any serious problems.
