Circumcision

Question:
My 2 year old son has to be circumcised about a year ago. He had to have more skin removed than normal. His penis is still in. When should it start to come out, and should he still be in a little pain with it?
Answer:
I am puzzled by the statement that “he had to have more skin removed than normal”.
It sounds like he has what is termed a “hidden penis”, which is a penis that retracts into the suprapubic fat pad and obscures the shaft of the penis. How long the condition lasts is quite variable, depending on the cause of the condition, whether there are skin adhesions to the shaft of the penis, and whether there is too much or too little penile shaft skin. A pediatric urologist generally can provide guidance on this condition.
