Salivary fistula

03/27/2009

Question:

I had the parotid salivary gland removed three weeks ago because of a tumor which was benign. I now have saliva dripping from behind my ear when I eat. I cannot use the scop patch because I developed tachycardia after having it on for two days. What else can I do to stop the saliva?

Answer:

You will need to talk to your surgeon. When the tumor was removed, the nerve that innervates the gland was cut. Your surgeon may have other meds that you can use.

Take care.
