Pain Management

Costochondritis

04/30/2009

Question:

I was told 5-6 years ago I had that due to the lump on the left side of my ribs. It can be painful and you can see the lump when I lay down. X-rays were taken and nothing looked abnormal. They told me the only way to heal is to relax it and take Ibuprofen, it will heal on it`s own. Well it`s still there and I can not get it to subside or go away. What can I do?

Answer:

You may need to do more sophisticated imaging than simple X-ray, such as MRI, which may reveal more detail as to what that lump is.
