Question:

I was told to get a chest x-ray for asbestos. How safe is a chest x-ray? Are there safer methods to check for asbestos? What complications and risks are associated with asbestos and the other tests? If asbestos is diagnosed, what can be done about it?

Answer:

Chest x-rays are safe. There are no other methods to detect mesothelioma secondary to asbestos. Surgical resection is possible for mesothliomas.
