Lung Cancer

CT scan showed 2 nodules

07/07/2009

Question:

let me start off by saying i am a 20 year old male and i was always very healthy. This all happened very sudden. I went to the ER for pain on the right side of my chest they checked my heart and said it was healthy. they then did a CT scan of my chest and found 2 single nodules in the lungs one on each side. I was looking over the symptoms of a chest cold and i do have a few of them but it is the nodules that have me worried. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist but i am looking for any information available at this point. any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Answer:

With your age, these nodules are most likely benign.  Nodules are very common in certain areas of the country.  They will need to be followed with chest CT's to ensure that they do not enlarge.

I hope this helps.
