Root Canals |
Calcified Root Canal07/30/2009 |
My daughter had a pulpectomy in preparation for a root canal about two months ago. Before she got in to have the root canal, calcification occured in the root. she now needs to see an endodontist to correct the problem before she can have the root canal. The question is, how prudent should she be to get this problem fixed and what are the dangers of putting it off? Thank you
I'm somewhat unsure of your daughter's situation. Having a pulpectomy done is having the first part of the root canal treatment. Calcifications can not occur after a root canal has been started. It may be that the dentist you saw thought that the root canal was too difficult and sent you to a specialist (an endodontist). If she had the root canal started but not finished, it is important to complete treatment.
