Throat clearing08/04/2009 |
My partner has chronic sinusitis and is ALWAYS clearing his throat plus throat whiplash 30yrs ago and possible throat obstruction. Could a person with these throat isssues, have polyps?
The symptoms you are describing are consistent with either post nasal drainage from chronic sinusitis and rhinitis or laryngopharyngeal reflux, that is acid that backs up from the stomach into the throat (this may occur without associated heartburn). Polyps in the larynx are possible but would not cause the symptoms you are describing. A complete evaluation by an ENT physician would be advisable to get at the root of the problem.
