Head and Neck Cancer

I Have a Jaw Tumor

10/20/2009

Question:

I had a tooth ache. The dentist pulled it, did an xray, and found a tumor larger than he has seen, or my local doctor, and facial surgeon. Also, I have a small bump inside my mouth that looks like a wart. Should I get a second opinion? I am scared. I am a 35 year old male.

Answer:

You definitely need to be seen by a physician that deals with these issues on a regular basis. You are not providing us with a lot of information. What you need is a thorough examination of your mouth and neck, some imaging, usually a CT scan, and ultimately a biopsy. The possibilities are numerous....it could be an infection, a tumor, and it could be benign or malignant. I would suggest you see an ear nose and throat doctor.
