Prostate Biopsy10/20/2009 |
How much time is required before another biopsy of the prostate can be performed?
There is no specific time that you need to wait from the technical standpoint before repeating a prostate biopsy. It would primarily depend on the reason for repeating the biopsy. If the indication favors a repeat biopsy, such as atypical cells on the first biopsy, then it could be done as early as within a few weeks (4-6 weeks is reasonable from a practical aspect), provided the patient feels comfortable to proceed.
