Collagenous colitis10/26/2009 |
Iwas diagnosed with this in Jan 08 after losing 3 stone in weight in 12 weeks (5ft 8" and went down to 8 stone). Budoneside has done a good job in repairing my gut and I came off it in Sept 08. My blood levels for b vits and iron are now normal and I havent had the runs for 2 months. I have put on half a stone in the past 12 months, but this is tiny relative to the massive quantity of good quality food (and calories) I eat. I have to stay off wheat and many fat sources, but can tuck in on nuts, goats and sheeps cheese/yogs/icecreams without any problems. My biggest problem at the moment is fatigue. I have good and bad days, but the slightest amount of physical exertion results in severe fatigue. Is this normal, and is there anything I could take to improve my energy (have tried tonics and vits/mins supplements). How long can it take to regain energy levels after CC?
I am not familiar with how long symptoms of colitis continue once treatment has started. It sounds like most of your symptoms are under control. I would check with your health care provider to see if the chronic fatigue is a side effect of the colitis or whether the colitis and treatment has brought on some other condition independent of the colitis, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
