What is involved in surgery for the removal of a bakers cyst behind my knee and what is recovery like and what is recovery time. - Under normal circumstances?
A Baker (popliteal) cyst usually forms as a result of another problem - for example, due to a torn medial meniscus (knee cartilage), or inflammation and damage to the knee joint lining in Rheumatoid Arthritis. A Baker cyst may not be the cause of a person's knee symptoms, particularly if the cyst is small.
Discussion of the specifics of your case with an orthopedic surgeon, including that particular surgeon's operative technique and typical postoperative recovery if surgery is necessary, would be most appropriate to address your questions.
