Thick uterine wall

11/02/2009

Question:

I am 64, my dr wants to do a biospy, because my wall lining is about 13 millimeter, what causes the wall to become so thick, and should I be worried. Thank You.

Answer:

There are lots of causes for the uterine wall to become thick. Some of the more common benign causes are uterine polyps, fibroids or thickened endometrium. The more concerning, but less likely causes are endometrial hyperplasia or cancer. This is the reason a biopsy is performed- to rule out these causes.
