Question:

I read a article that said no one should take Fleets Phosphor Soda. It said that it will destroy ones kidneys, and require dialysis. I have taken this over 4 times for colonscopy prep. Is it in fact to dangerous to use as a bowel prep? If so will a laxative like ducolax work if enough is taken?

Answer:

There have been reports of kidney damage (sometimes permanent and requiring dialysis) from using this medication for colon cleansing prior to colonoscopy. Therefore, it has been removed from the market and other colon bowel preparations are more commonly being used.
