Question:

Had this symptom for a year.Do not have a `burning sensation`, so I don`t believe it`s BMS. Is not alleviated with changes in toothpaste or mouthwash. Mostly annoying and chronic. Seen by dentist, oral surgeon, and hygienist, but they do not know how to help. What could this be and how do I get rid of this? I am healthy and do not take medications.

Thank you for your question.  What makes this confusing is that not all BMS cases burn. The simple fact that three separate health care professionals: a dentist, an oral surgeon and a hygienist don’t know what the problem is or how to help should not be minimized or ignored. It is the classic description I hear from virtually all of my BMS patients, followed by my own examination that reveals no evidence of abnormality in the mouth.
