Is Distolic Dysfunction age Related?

Question:

I am a 56 year old female who just had an echo cardiogram and dystolic dysfunction was noted level 2. My doctor said this is age related and many older individuals have this. Suggested beta blocker to slow progression. Is this age related and normal?
