Urinary and Genital Disorders (Children) Overview
Pediatric urology is a specialty devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of problems related to the urinary system and genitals in children.
Children cannot always say what is bothering them or answer medical questions, and are not always able to be cooperative during a medical examination. However, pediatric urologists know how to examine and treat children in a way that makes them relaxed and cooperative. Pediatric urologists often use equipment specially designed for children.

The pediatrician should perform the initial evaluation and oftentimes, they can manage the issue. It is important to keep your pediatrician in the loop with specialists, and often the pediatrician can handle many of the medical management for some of the conditions that require referral to a specialist.
